The Swabian Art Summer takes place very year in the light-flooded rooms of the Swabian Convention and Education Center “Irsee Monastery Cloiser”. The cloister of the one-time imperial abbey is rich in tradition. The century-old knowledge of the monks on the rules of community life, creative reflection, and tolerant attitudes towards life has taken shape here. The atmosphere of the building, which was founded in early 18th century, is still affected today by the bright light of the enlightenment.
As art and science are certainly part of the cloistral and meditative spirit of this time, the building and its surroundings still offer an ideal framework for the program of the summer academy “Experience Art”. | The building is beaming from the inside! |

This building from the first quarter of the 18th century became home to a century-old cloistral tradition. The knowledge and culture of a community of people, who spent their lives in these rooms, is reflected by its architecture. The bright light of the early enlightenment still defines the atmosphere of the building and its surroundings. Art and science were at the heart of the self-conception of those living a cloistral and meditative life at that time. Thus, the spirit and architecture of the one-time cloister offer an ideal framework for a contemporary program on living arts.
