Searching for the nature of colour
The focus of the master class is on the link between abstract painting and the visual principles which we find in nature. We will not illustrate nature, rather attempt to find out how we visually perceive nature, and how these visual means emerge in abstract painting. The main emphasis will be placed on painting in colour as a vehicle for developing visual spaces. However, it must be rendered in shapes and made transparent. The further development of the “seeing” aspect will be just as important as the painting aspect. And perhaps we will succeed in learning a little bit about how visual concepts can be translated into language.
All material can be used. However, acrylic is recommended because it dries quickly. Water colours are also an exciting technique, but it is important to make sure that very high quality paper is used.
