Room-Sound
The »church« as an acoustic room has always been an inspiration for composers during all eras of music. Both in terms of substance as well as sound, this place with its diverse creative possibilities has been the setting for many pieces of music. The goal of this year’s professional choir course is to highlight the symbiosis between space and composition. Starting with the music for one voice of the Middle Age and the Venetian multi-choir tradition, and moving on to attempts at overtone singing and sound mass compositions or sound production in the 20th century, the course will touch on the most diverse styles.
The need to use one’s voice – including jazz and simple folk songs – will be the challenge, but also the appeal for this year’s singers.
