2006 Program - Sculpture with Taft Green

Taft Green
Taft Green

The workshop will be geared to the complexities of spatial modeling in contemporary culture. There will be mornings where the workshop will look at films, in developing ideas to work with in fabrication. Looking at objects, sets, and architecture within different films the ideas of the workshop will be generated out of how thought is derived out of different usages of spatial designation and temporal collage. Using magazines and the films we watch as potential material, the artworks generated from this process could be anything from a written outline, a collage culled from magazine images, or a realized three dimensional form. As a guiding principle the ideas and aesthetics found in rough drafts, speculative models, loose outlines, preliminary drafting or tangential diagrams should be considered as we move through different ideas. Hopefully, the workshop will generate potential meaning that can be extended beyond the course of a week.

The workshop language is English.
